We only hand messages to an SMTP relay, so copy rendering this must never say “delivered” or “received”.

Queued

In our queue, not handed over yet.

Retrying

At least one attempt failed transiently; next_retry_at says when we try again.

Sent

Handed to the mail relay. Not a delivery confirmation.

SendFailed

We could not hand it over at all, and will not try again.
